You can google or buy one of thousands of guidebooks that will tell you about places to visit, but in my opinion not a single one can match the experience and local knowledge of a personal tour guide. A good guide will make your trip an amazing experience whereas a bad guide can make you feel like you wish you never left home. So the question is what makes a good guide?
I personally feel that a good guide is one whose company you can enjoy, one who takes you off the beaten path and gives you insight to the places you are visiting in a funny and articulate manner. Not in a way where its obvious that he/she is regurgitating information that they have spilt 4 times already that day. It's all about providing you with enthusiasm and giving you a sense of wanting to return to that place. Someone who is there when you want them and knows when to leave you in peace.
Tour guides provide an integral service which not only relates to the tours they offer but they should also be good advocates for the City or Country they represent. The toursim industry relies on good quality guides to provide visitors with the best of their trip!
PickMyGuide aims to bring forth a tour guide community to travellers worldwide to not only support income generation for the tour guides, but also to give the avid traveller a various array of options in choosing the best guide for their journey. We hope you all enjoy what PickMyGuide has to offer!
